Job Description
The Thermal Process Engineer at Rondo Energy is responsible for designing and analyzing thermal systems, including heat transfer, equipment sizing, and process flow, to support the development and deployment of innovative heat battery technology aimed at decarbonizing industrial processes.
Responsibilities
- •Lead the development and analysis of thermal performance for heat battery systems, including heat transfer, pressure drop, equipment sizing, and heat duty calculations.
- •Develop, own, and maintain the heat and mass balance for heat battery systems.
- •Lead process engineering for boilers and Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG), including specifications, calculations, datasheets, drawings, and supplier communication.
- •Conduct air flow studies and size ductwork, stacks, dampers, blowers, and hot air handling equipment.
- •Collaborate with simulation teams on necessary studies and product decisions.
- •Develop and maintain Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Process Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- •Create datasheets for equipment such as air blowers, actuators, pumps, and valves.
- •Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and support technical reviews with customers and partners.
Requirements
- •Bachelor's degree in mechanical or chemical engineering.
- •3-5 years of professional experience in heat-exchanger, boiler heat recovery steam generation, hot air or exhaust gas applications, thermal performance engineering, high temperature duct design, chemical or waste heat recovery applications.
- •Experience leading the development of thermal performance analysis of heat battery systems including heat transfer, pressure drop, equipment sizing, and heat duty calculations.
- •Ability to develop, own, and maintain the official heat and mass balance for heat battery systems.
- •Experience leading process engineering efforts for boilers and heat recovery steam generators (HRSG), including specification, calculations, datasheets, drawings, and supplier technical communication.
- •Experience working on air flow studies including sizing of duct, stack, dampers, blowers, and other hot air handling equipment.
- •Proficiency in developing and maintaining Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Process Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- •Ability to develop datasheets for air blowers, actuators, pumps, valves, and similar equipment.
- •Experience collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams such as Instrumentation and Controls, Supply Chain, and Product Management to complete goals and tasks.
- •Experience supporting application and project teams in reviewing technical documentation.
- •Experience participating in technical reviews such as P&ID review, HAZOP study, and feasibility study with customers, Owner’s Engineers, and EPC partners.
- •Ability to maintain high standards of quality across design concepts, drawings, and specifications.
- •Experience integrating innovative technologies and sustainable practices into the design process.
- •Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
