Job Description
The Head of Quantum Innovation will lead the development of a state-of-the-art quantum research and venture creation environment, orchestrating multidisciplinary teams to build breakthrough quantum technologies and startups within a newly established quantum campus in Albuquerque.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify key problems to solve in quantum technology and bring together multidisciplinary teams to develop solutions.
- Lead the creation and design of a state-of-the-art quantum lab to serve as a launchpad for quantum ventures.
- Define equipment specifications and shape team operations within the quantum lab environment.
- Drive venture-building models by identifying opportunities that align technical potential with market demand.
- Assemble and secure top talent to pursue identified opportunities and support startup development.
- Set strategic direction for project development, ensuring alignment of technical, commercial, and market goals.
Requirements
- Experience leading the creation and development of state-of-the-art quantum laboratories or similar advanced research facilities.
- Ability to define equipment specifications and shape operational environments for quantum research teams.
- Proven track record in identifying technical opportunities that align with market demand and assembling teams to pursue them.
- Experience supporting world-class founders and building new startups around their strengths and vision.
- Ability to set strategic direction for project development, including defining talent profiles and securing top hires.
- Experience in aligning technical, commercial, and market goals from inception to execution.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams across physics, engineering, fabrication, software, and market strategy to ensure synchronized progress.
- Experience in venture-building models, particularly idea-led and talent-led approaches, in the context of deep tech or quantum technologies.
- Ability to design and shape the environment for transforming ideas into market-ready technologies within a quantum lab setting.
- Experience in leading or orchestrating complex projects within a 12-month timeframe.
