The Survey Technician I supports land and water restoration projects by performing accurate surveying work in the field, assisting with data collection, and gaining experience in environmental and construction techniques, all while working outdoors and as part of a collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities
Support land and water restoration projects through accurate surveying work
Assist in collecting site data such as topography, environmental features, property boundaries, and engineering information
Operate survey tools and methods to capture precise measurements
Navigate various terrains and identify plant and tree species
Operate or assist with equipment like ATVs, UTVs, chainsaws, and hand tools for site access and clearing
Download and deliver field data to the Land Surveying Supervisor to ensure project progress
Maintain safety protocols, including proper PPE and reporting incidents
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Valid Driver's License
Must be able to lift 50 lbs, walk over uneven surfaces and up and down hills, climb on construction equipment, and work outdoors and in inclement weather
Previous exposure to survey work, construction, or related field
Basic understanding of survey math and terminology
Familiarity with survey tools and methods and equipment
Safety compliance including consistently using proper PPE and maintaining a Samsara driving score above 70, and reporting safety incidents promptly
