The Summer Ecology Project Associate Intern supports stream and wetland restoration projects through fieldwork, data collection, and technical documentation, gaining hands-on experience in ecological restoration and environmental monitoring in Tennessee.
Key Responsibilities
Support stream and wetland delineation, vegetation monitoring, and restoration planting assessments in the field
Conduct biological surveys and geomorphic stream surveys
Perform hydrologic monitoring, including stream flow, flood, and groundwater measurements
Download and maintain field gauges and devices
Collect field data using GPS and mobile applications
Assist with data entry, organization, and basic quality assurance/quality control
Prepare technical reports and support documentation
Participate in restoration site maintenance and management tasks
Requirements
Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Natural Resource Management, or a related field
Interest in ecological restoration and comfort working outdoors in variable conditions
Ability to interpret field maps and follow field protocols
Strong attention to detail for accurate data collection and data entry
Clear communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented working style
Experience using ArcGIS Pro ArcPro
Experience with surveying and or field equipment e.g., GPS units
Biological survey experience
Strong plant identification experience with native and invasive species
