The Summer Ecology Project Associate Intern supports stream and wetland restoration projects through hands-on fieldwork, data collection, and technical documentation, gaining practical experience in ecological restoration and environmental monitoring in Kentucky.
Key Responsibilities
Support stream and wetland delineation, vegetation monitoring, and restoration planting assessments in the field
Conduct biological surveys and geomorphic stream surveys
Perform hydrologic monitoring, including stream flow, flood, and groundwater measurements
Download and maintain field gauges and devices
Collect field data using GPS and mobile applications
Assist with data entry, organization, and basic quality assurance/quality control
Prepare technical reports and documentation related to restoration projects
Support site maintenance and management tasks for restoration sites
Requirements
Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Natural Resource Management, or a related field
Interest in ecological restoration and comfort working outdoors in variable conditions
Ability to interpret field maps and follow field protocols
Strong attention to detail for accurate data collection and data entry
Clear communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented working style
