The Summer Ecology Project Associate role involves hands-on fieldwork supporting stream and wetland restoration projects in Louisiana, including data collection, site assessments, and technical support, providing valuable ecological restoration experience.
Key Responsibilities
Support stream and wetland restoration projects through fieldwork activities
Collect and document field data on vegetation, hydrology, geomorphology, and biological surveys
Assist with stream geomorphic surveys and calculate relevant parameters
Download, maintain, and operate field gauges and monitoring devices
Support data entry, organization, and technical documentation
Participate in site maintenance and management tasks related to restoration projects
Requirements
Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Natural Resource Management, or a related field
Interest in ecological restoration and comfort working outdoors in variable conditions such as hot, cold, wet, and humid environments
Ability to interpret field maps and follow field protocols accurately
Strong attention to detail for accurate data collection and data entry
Clear communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented working style
Plant identification experience with native and invasive species
