Job Description
The Summer Ecology Project Associate Intern supports stream and wetland restoration projects through fieldwork, data collection, and technical documentation, gaining hands-on experience in ecological restoration and environmental monitoring in North Carolina.
Key Responsibilities
- Support stream and wetland restoration projects through fieldwork and data collection
- Conduct vegetation monitoring, biological surveys, and geomorphic stream surveys
- Perform hydrologic monitoring and maintain field gauges and devices
- Collect field data using GPS and mobile applications
- Assist with stream geomorphic surveys and parameter calculations
- Support data entry, organization, and technical documentation
- Participate in restoration site maintenance and management tasks
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Natural Resource Management, or a related field
- Interest in ecological restoration and comfort working outdoors in variable conditions
- Ability to interpret field maps and follow field protocols
- Strong attention to detail for accurate data collection and data entry
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented working style

Work schedule: Field-intensive, performed rain or shine, extensive travel across North Carolina with frequent overnight stays
