Job Description
The Nursery Worker at Ecological Restoration Services is responsible for preparing fields, planting trees and grasses, operating equipment, and maintaining nursery and field sites to support ecological restoration projects, working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare fields for cultivation, make rows, dig holes, and plant trees and wetland grasses
- Spray chemicals and fertilizers, and mix soil
- Harvest and plant tree seedlings by hand
- Operate and perform sanitation of field and shed equipment
- Maintain farm equipment
Requirements
- Prepare fields for cultivation, make rows, dig holes, plant trees, plant wetland upland grasses and plugs at the nursery and at the planting jobs located within the nursery's metropolitan statistical area
- Spray various chemicals and fertilizers, and mix soil
- Harvest and plant tree seedlings by hand
- Operate and perform field and shed sanitation
- Maintain farm equipment
- Walk, lift up to 50 lbs., stoop, bend, reach and kneel repetitively for long periods of time
- Work outdoors in all kinds of weather
- All tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job will be provided by the employer without charge
- Post-hire drug screening will be conducted at the employer’s expense
