Job Description
The Nursery Technician II at RES is responsible for maintaining plant health, managing inventory, overseeing irrigation and pest control, and supporting team training in a nursery environment to promote restoration and sustainability efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain the health of plant stock
- Manage irrigation systems and watering schedules
- Implement and oversee Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
- Train team members on plant care and maintenance
- Maintain accurate records of plant inventory and orders
- Coordinate moving, trimming, and chemical treatment of containerized plants
- Inspect plants for pests, disease, or damage and perform quality control
- Handle plants and materials carefully during order fulfillment
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe
- Operate machinery such as forklifts and hand tools
Requirements
- Previous experience in a horticultural or nursery setting is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and move plants, supplies, and equipment up to an unspecified weight.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Supervisory experience.
- Willing to obtain WI pesticide applicator license.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Must be comfortable working with plants, soil, and natural elements.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
- Operate forklift and other similar types of machinery and hand tools.
- Work in both indoor and outdoor nursery environments, exposed to various weather conditions depending on the season.
