Job Description
The Operator II at RES is responsible for executing construction tasks related to restoration and infrastructure projects, operating various equipment, and supporting team communication and safety in outdoor environments to help restore ecosystems and protect natural resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a variety of construction equipment such as tractors, skid steers, and brush cutters.
- Assist with grading, setting grades, and installing features according to site plans.
- Review construction plans and implement them in the field.
- Perform equipment checks, report maintenance needs, and ensure site safety protocols are followed.
- Support in training newer crew members on safe practices and task procedures.
- Monitor work progress against project specifications and communicate with team members.
- Perform physically demanding tasks in various terrain and weather conditions.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required
- At least 2 years of construction experience
- At least 1 year of experience operating construction equipment
- Strong familiarity with safety practices and PPE
- Experience setting grades with smooth transitions and low tolerances within 0.2 ft
- Ability to read project plans and implement them in the field
- Basic experience with GPS and grading tools
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Capable of walking over uneven surfaces, climbing on construction equipment, and navigating hills
- Comfortable working outdoors and performing tasks at ground level
- Ability to travel 4-5 nights a week, with per diem and hotel stay provided
