Job Description
The Flight Controls Engineering Intern at REGENT will develop and implement control law algorithms for the seaglider, an innovative all-electric flying machine. The role involves working with various engineering teams to address unique control challenges and validate systems through simulations and live-flight testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement control law algorithms for seagliders
- Leverage interplay between hydrodynamic, aerodynamic, and distributed propulsion controls
- Utilize high-fidelity simulations and live-flight testing to validate control systems
- Collaborate with engineers to design control surfaces and develop requirements
- Create verification and validation procedures for testing
- Participate in the transition from simulation to full-scale prototype sea trials
Requirements
- Developing and implementing control law algorithms for REGENT's seagliders.
- Leveraging the interplay between hydrodynamic controls, aerodynamic controls, and distributed propulsion controls.
- Utilizing high-fidelity simulations and live-flight testing to validate and verify control systems.
- Working closely with aero, hydro, and mechanical engineers designing control surfaces.
- Developing requirements with systems engineers.
- Creating verification and validation procedures with test engineers.
- Involvement throughout the transition from simulation to full scale prototype sea trials.
