Job Description
Redwood Materials is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support pilot projects and large-scale manufacturing operations, focusing on equipment specification, process improvement, and team training to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency in battery material production.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the specification, procurement, and implementation of capital equipment.
- Design tooling and fixtures for manufacturing processes.
- Review and provide input on new process equipment designs.
- Partner with the mechanical development team to transition new processes and equipment into manufacturing.
- Create and own process work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Train manufacturing personnel on new processes and equipment.
- Analyze process data and metrics to drive improvements in safety, quality, and cost.
- Troubleshoot and resolve process and equipment issues.
- Identify and execute continuous improvement projects across manufacturing lines.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- 5 to 7 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer
- Strong mechanical aptitude, including understanding of dimensioning and tolerancing
- Experience with industrial scale processes and equipment, including automation
- Experience with structured capital process, including process equipment validation
- Technical writing experience
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office software
- Ability to safely perform job duties in both office and production environments
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. as needed
- Must maintain regular and punctual attendance in alignment with company and regulatory standards
- Must be able to communicate clearly
- Experience leading capital acquisition processes
- Experience analyzing process data and metrics and driving improvements on safety, quality, and cost
- Experience troubleshooting and solving process and equipment issues
- Experience creating and owning process work instructions and standard operating procedures
- Experience training manufacturing personnel on new processes and equipment
- Experience with statistical data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Experience with process equipment design, review, and input
- Experience partnering with mechanical development teams to transition processes and equipment into manufacturing
