Job Description
This role involves designing and implementing automated testing strategies for a high-performance enterprise storage platform, ensuring product quality, reliability, and seamless upgrades through collaboration with software engineers and hands-on hardware testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and own comprehensive test plans and qualification strategies for high-availability storage features.
- Design and develop advanced automation frameworks and tools using Python to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
- Perform root cause analysis by triaging and debugging automated test failures across hardware and software components.
- Identify and address critical test gaps by analyzing failure modes and designing new test scenarios.
- Execute interoperability testing, firmware updates, and upgrade path qualification to ensure seamless deployment and backwards compatibility.
Requirements
- Expert-level proficiency in defining and implementing systems test strategies and comprehensive test plans for complex enterprise storage features.
- Demonstrated mastery in test automation, including strong hands-on experience using Python to design, build, and maintain automation frameworks.
- Deep knowledge of the storage stack, including high availability, caching, flash drives, RAID, deduplication, compression, and a solid understanding of filesystems, block storage, and I/O paths.
- Strong analytical skills to design failure scenarios and analyze errors for effective root cause analysis.
- Working knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V.
- Experience with storage protocols including Fibre Channel and iSCSI.
- Experience working hands-on in hardware labs or data centers with storage arrays.
- Deep understanding of customer workloads and IO tools like vdbench or iometer.
- Ability to design and implement comprehensive test plans and qualification strategies for high-availability features.
- Ability to execute interoperability testing, firmware updates, and upgrade path qualification with a focus on backwards compatibility and real-world customer use cases.
- Willingness to work from the Santa Clara, CA office in an in-office environment in accordance with company policies.
