Job Description

The Commercial Pre-Sales Systems Engineer partners with sales teams to guide customers through data storage and infrastructure solutions, translating complex technical concepts into business value and supporting the technical evaluation and presentation of products to drive revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with sales to guide customers through data and infrastructure challenges.
  • Develop understanding of customer business drivers and decision-making processes.
  • Connect technology solutions to measurable customer business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with account managers, specialists, and channel partners to create a seamless customer experience and drive revenue.
  • Lead evaluations, benchmarks, and system configurations for customer solutions.
  • Create and deliver technical product and architecture presentations to customers.
  • Identify and promote new opportunities for interoperability, testing, and validation.
  • Stay current with market trends, competition, and solution positioning.
  • Support the sales process by responding to RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs.
  • Support technical discussions around storage, networking, cloud, and virtualization architectures.

Requirements

  • Pre-sales experience is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in technology, design, and communications.
  • Experience supporting the sales of enterprise storage, networking, systems, cloud, or software to commercial accounts is preferred.
  • Ability to learn rapidly, absorb complex concepts, and adapt to evolving technologies and customer needs.
  • Understanding of the architecture, design, and implementation of multi-tiered client-server and web-based computing solutions.
  • Familiarity with modern web architecture such as LAMP stack, scale-out vs scale-up architectures, AWS well-architected framework, microservices architecture is preferred.
  • Experience in targeting new prospects and converting them into clients.
  • Contribute significant portions and/or lead responses to RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs.
  • Previous experience with Linux, NFS file systems, and Linux distributed network environment.
  • Experience with installation and configuration of distributed computing, multiprocessing, virtual memory subsystem, storage subsystems architecture, shared memory architectures, cache architectures, and windowing systems.
  • Strong knowledge of digital transformation to a Cloud Native architecture, including On-Premises, Public Cloud, Provisioning Automation, and Containers.
  • Knowledge of VMware, Local Area Networking, Ethernet, TCP/IP, and general networking concepts.
  • Familiarity with storage-intensive applications and their requirements such as structured databases like SQL and Oracle is highly desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills.
