Job Description
A leadership role in kernel and driver development focused on designing, maintaining, and optimizing storage protocol stacks and drivers for Linux-based storage systems, with an emphasis on NVMe Fabrics, Fibre Channel, and TCP/IP, collaborating closely with hardware teams to ensure system performance and resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, debugging, and maintenance of Linux initiator stacks for storage protocols including NVMe Fabrics, RoCE, FC, and TCP/IP.
- Maintain and enhance Fibre Channel SCSI target drivers and NIC drivers to improve system resilience and performance.
- Contribute bug fixes and enhancements to Linux upstream to optimize storage protocol behavior.
- Collaborate with hardware teams on system bring-up, interface design, and firmware management.
- Design and implement robust software interfaces between hardware components and system software.
Requirements
- Strong experience writing device drivers and or kernel development for Linux or Unix, preferably in storage and or networking.
- Experience designing significant components in storage protocol stacks and knowledge of SCSI, FC-SCSI, iSCSI, and or NVMe Fabrics.
- Proven experience leading other engineers technically, including mentoring junior staff and delivering high-quality projects on time.
- Expertise in performance analysis and optimization for storage systems, with demonstrated experience debugging difficult protocol kernel system issues.
- Proficiency in C and C++ development, with experience in Python, and specific knowledge of the VMWare initiator stack.
- Complete responsibility for the entire software lifecycle of core storage area network components, including architecture, design, coding, debugging, release, inventory, configuration, and monitoring.
- Development and fixing of software for Linux initiator stacks attached to FlashArray, focusing on modern NVMe Fabrics RoCE, FC, TCP IP, and traditional FC-SCSI interfaces.
- Maintain and enhance Purity’s Fibre Channel SCSI target driver and NIC drivers, improving resilience, multipathing, link health, and RAS capabilities.
- Evaluate and optimize Linux initiator behavior for storage performance, contributing bug fixes and enhancements to Linux upstream as needed.
- Design robust inter-component interfaces between software and hardware, and collaborate with hardware teams on system power-on, bring-up, and firmware management.
