Job Description
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for driving and managing all mechanical aspects of DirectFlash Modules (DFMs) and storage devices, including designing, testing, and integrating these components into new storage systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- •Lead all aspects of in-house drive designs on mechanical and thermal.
- •Design next generation DirectFlash Modules (DFMs) and standard form factors.
- •Support new system designs with ODM/JDM to use DFMs.
- •Create test plans for internal designs and review ODM/JDM test plans.
- •Lead mechanical testing including temperature, humidity, altitude, shock, vibration, and airflow.
- •Own mechanical designs from concept to sustaining.
- •Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet program deliverables.
Requirements
- •B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering
- •5 years in a related product design roles
- •3D CAD experience with ProE Creo Parametric or equivalent
- •Strong understanding of sheet metal, die cast, plastic injection molding, thermal, heatsink, thermal interface material, and airflow design
- •Hands-on experience with detail sheet metal, plastic, die-cast, and extrusion design and prototyping
- •Experience with CAD, tolerance analysis, thermal tradeoffs, DFx
- •Track record of delivering high quality, high volume electronics
- •Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
- •Ability to work in the Santa Clara office at least four days per week
