Job Description
The Energy Efficiency Technician performs home weatherization and energy efficiency upgrades, conducts energy audits, and provides customer service to help reduce energy costs and improve environmental sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct physical site assessments using diagnostic equipment and tools.
- Install energy efficiency upgrades such as insulation, duct sealing, air sealing, lighting, and thermostats.
- Perform energy audits and produce pre- and post-test reduction data.
- Document and communicate energy efficiency improvements to homeowners, supervisors, and contractors.
- Maintain safety standards and identify unsafe work environments.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Ability to lift thirty five pounds (35 lbs)
- Physical ability to work in tight areas, attics, crawl spaces, and hatch doors
- Ability to work for periods in hot attics
- Ability to work with fiberglass, cellulose, foam, mastic, and caulk in a safe manner
- Availability to work some Saturdays
- Experience in residential construction and/or maintenance industry preferred
- Proficiency with Google Workspace preferred
- General disposition towards technology including the use of online platforms such as DOE Energy Score, Dropbox, Salesforce CRM on various devices including laptop, tablet, and smartphone
- Follow safety guidelines and bring attention to any potentially unsafe work environments
- Perform physical site assessments using equipment and tools including pressure diagnostic equipment, measuring devices, hand tools, various ladder types and sizes, blower door, combustion safety analysis equipment, and protective equipment
- Install energy efficient upgrades in single-family residential projects including insulation, pipe insulation, plumbing fixture aerators, duct sealing, air sealing, compact fluorescent light bulbs, and thermostat replacement
- Perform energy audits and produce pre- and post-reduction numbers from testing
- Prepare documentation of energy efficiency upgrades for upload to shared database and communicate results to homeowners, supervisors, and contractors
- Make minor repairs to homes
- Work in accordance with safety guidelines and enforce quality and customer service standards
Benefits & Perks
Compensation/salary range: $18-$21 USD per hour
Work schedule: Some Saturdays required
Work environment perks: Ability to work in tight areas, attics, crawl spaces, and hatch doors; work in hot attics; work clean and clean-up work site after completing each job
