Job Description
A Software Engineer role focused on developing and enhancing the Copernicus Browser application, which explores Earth Observation data from Sentinel satellites, with an emphasis on creating innovative features, integrating data sources, and collaborating with European space agencies to improve access and interaction with satellite imagery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test reusable open-source UI components
- Integrate RESTful APIs into the user interface
- Maintain and enhance the existing open-source code base of the Copernicus Browser
- Conduct code reviews
Requirements
- 4 years experience in software development
- Expertise with React or similar JavaScript frameworks
- Material UI experience
- Experience with Redux for state management
- Good knowledge of HTTP, REST, JSON, and HTML5 CSS3
- Experience with Jest for unit tests
- Experience with Docker for containerization
- Experience with Git for version control
- Experience with GitLab CI for one-click deployments
- Ability to quickly react and adapt to new situations
- Cross-functional communication and collaboration skills
- Product design skills
- Experience with geospatial technologies and data such as Leaflet or OpenLayers for interactive maps
