Job Description
This internship involves conducting research and analysis to develop a leadership competency framework that will shape talent development and assessment processes at Planet, a space and data company. The role includes gathering internal and external insights, synthesizing findings into recommendations, and supporting strategic HR initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct external market research on leadership competency frameworks used by technology, aerospace, and scaling public companies.
- Gather internal perspectives from cross-functional stakeholders and leaders to identify valued leadership behaviors and current gaps.
- Synthesize research findings into a structured recommendation for a core set of Planet-specific leadership competencies.
- Support the preparation of materials for leadership alignment workshops to review and finalize the competency framework.
- Research how other organizations integrate competency frameworks into talent processes and document integration recommendations.
- Create presentation-ready deliverables to communicate research and recommendations to the People Team and senior leadership.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Solid research and analytical skills to gather information from multiple sources, identify patterns, and synthesize findings into clear, structured recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to create deliverables that are polished enough to present to senior leaders.
- Intellectual curiosity about how organizations define and develop leadership, including an interest in what makes leaders effective and how companies build cultures of accountability and high performance.
- Comfort working independently on a multi-week research project while managing your own timeline and deliverables.
- Experience with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office for research documentation, analysis, and presentation creation.
- Experience leveraging AI-powered tools for research and analysis to synthesize market data, identify key patterns, and draft comprehensive, structured reports.
