Job Description
The Solution Engineer serves as a technical consultant and project leader, designing and supporting advanced automation solutions across various industries by integrating complex products, providing technical support, and driving innovation to meet customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support advanced automation solutions integrating complex technical products with third-party components.
- Develop expertise in industry technology areas, attain relevant certifications, and mentor junior staff.
- Provide technical support during pre-sales activities, including developing concept frameworks and conducting application demonstrations.
- Create and validate test plans, troubleshoot systems, and develop advanced testing processes using specialized equipment.
- Lead technical aspects of proof of concept or pilot applications and provide on-site installation start-up support.
- Research and communicate data on existing and emerging products and technologies to support product development.
- Support sales efforts by providing technical expertise to OEMs, end-users, and system integrators, including conducting presentations and seminars.
- Maintain expert knowledge of industrial networking, communication protocols, and Phoenix Contact products, including IEC 61131 programming and industrial Ethernet technologies.
Requirements
- Minimum Associate's Technical Degree or equivalent experience; Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical focus preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years industrial automation experience.
- Industry-specific controls system design and programming experience.
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Ability to set priorities and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities to meet business goals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Effective interpersonal skills with comfort in delivering group presentations.
- Minimum 35% travel requirement, including 2-5 overseas trips.
- Must be able to lift 60 pounds.
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time, up to 2-4 hours at a time.
- Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time, up to 4 hours at a time.
- Must be able to travel in vehicles, automobiles, trains, and planes for up to 10 hours.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in verbal and written English.
- Must comply with company dress code guidelines.
- Must demonstrate punctuality and attendance in accordance with company policies.
- Must be able to provide timely reporting of expenses.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to perform physical demands including lifting 60 pounds and extended sitting or standing.
