Job Description

A hands-on sales engineering role focused on driving sales of Phoenix Contact products by building customer relationships, providing technical support, and identifying growth opportunities within the industrial automation sector in the Southern Ohio and Kentucky regions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive sales of Phoenix Contact products within the assigned territory by identifying opportunities and building customer relationships.
  • Support the sales process through technical support, proposals, presentations, and product demonstrations.
  • Maintain and utilize CRM systems to track customer interactions, sales activities, and performance metrics.
  • Develop and implement account-specific action plans to grow business and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Achieve or exceed sales quotas by conducting regular outreach, follow-up, and relationship development with customers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Channel and Field Application Engineering, to align efforts and deliver customer solutions.
  • Demonstrate technical competence on all relevant products and solutions, providing technical support and product knowledge to customers.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree, with a technical discipline preferred, or equivalent industry experience, with an emphasis on end-user experience.
  • 1 to 3 years minimum sales experience in the industrial automation controls or end-user marketplace.
  • A strong engineering background or technical degree is essential, providing the foundation for understanding complex products and solutions.
  • Experience working with distribution is preferred.
  • Must be able to travel via airplane and automobile for up to six hours at a time, including overnight travel 20-25 nights per year.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to conduct a minimum of 16 to 20 sales calls per week.
  • Must be able to comply with company dress code guidelines.
  • Must be punctual and demonstrate regular and on-time attendance.
  • Must be able to develop and implement effective Mutual Action Plans with assigned customer locations, independently or with regional management.
  • Must demonstrate technical competence on all products and solutions within the area of focus.
  • Must be able to provide forecasts and reports to RSM as required.
  • Must qualify and follow up on all opportunities and quotations within the assigned account portfolio.
  • Must be able to deliver presentations and hands-on demonstrations of Phoenix Contact products, applications, and technology.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
  • Must be able to travel overnight as dictated by the assigned territory.
  • Must comply with all safety and physical demands, including lifting and travel requirements.
