Job Description
The Field Application Engineer Data Center Systems acts as a technical liaison, providing expert support, solution development, and training for electronic and automation products in data center environments, while supporting sales growth and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and qualify new business opportunities through technical consultation and solution development.
- Provide on-site and remote technical support, including product demonstrations, application guidance, and troubleshooting.
- Develop and deliver technical training to internal teams, channel partners, and customers.
- Support the integration of company products into customer applications, including system design, configuration, and validation.
- Assist in creating technical documentation, application notes, and white papers.
- Promote solutions and build brand awareness through trade shows, webinars, and customer events.
- Collaborate with product management and engineering to provide market feedback and influence product development.
- Manage customer interactions, project status, and technical issues using CRM and support tools.
- Train sales and channel partners on Phoenix Contact’s Data Center solutions and value proposition.
- Manage and develop channel partners through joint sales activities, trainings, and mutual action plans.
Requirements
- Four-year degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred.
- 5-7 years of experience in a technical support, application engineering, or field engineering role.
- Strong knowledge of industrial automation, control systems, or electronic components.
- Background and experience in Data Center market is strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM tools.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% to support customer engagements and field activities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Phoenix Contact’s business solutions.
- Superior computer skills and proficiency in Windows-based applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Self-motivated with the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Polished presentation skills.
- Record of accomplishment of achieving higher than expected sales performance.
- Strong business development skills, including exceeding expectations of sales calls and opportunity creation.
- Exhibit leadership skills within the given territory assignment.
- Experience in working with distributors is preferred.
- Must be able to travel via airplane.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate an automobile for up to six hours at a time.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs (samples, demos, literature).
- Must be able to travel overnight up to 35 nights or as dictated by support needs.
- Must comply with company dress code guidelines.
- Must have regular and on-time attendance.
