Job Description

The Field Application Engineer provides technical support and sales expertise for Phoenix Contact's cabinet efficiency products within the industrial automation industry, focusing on expanding market presence and building strong customer relationships in the Midwest region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and promote Phoenix Contact products and applications related to cabinet efficiency to increase sales revenue.
  • Collaborate with sales teams and conduct joint sales activities, trainings, and develop mutual action plans.
  • Act as the technical representative for products, providing technical support and delivering product presentations and demonstrations.
  • Develop sales tools, collateral, and marketing campaigns to drive product adoption and market expansion.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders to facilitate new business and growth.
  • Utilize CRM systems for client management, reporting, and tracking sales activities.
  • Stay knowledgeable about all product solutions within the area of focus and provide technical expertise.
  • Meet or exceed sales quotas and drive territory growth through consultative selling and value-added solutions.

Requirements

  • Four-year college degree; technical discipline preferred and/or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years sales or marketing experience with automation and industrial control products.
  • Ability to work independently from a home office and communicate effectively with colleagues with limited supervision.
  • Excellent oral, written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
  • Must be able to travel via airplane.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate an automobile for up to six hours at a time.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs (samples, demos, literature).
  • Must be able to travel overnight 50% or as dictated by assigned territory.
  • Must comply with company dress code guidelines.
  • Regular and on-time attendance.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain strong relationships with potential clients, partners, and other stakeholders to facilitate new business and sustain growth.
  • Must be proficient in and fully utilize CRM systems for communication, reporting, measurement, and tracking.
  • Must demonstrate technical competence on all products and solutions within the area of focus.
  • Must deliver presentations and hands-on demonstrations of Phoenix Contact Cabinet Efficiency products, applications, and technology.
  • Must develop and maintain a working knowledge of all Phoenix Contact Cabinet Efficiency products and solutions.
  • Must be able to provide reports to RSM as required.
