The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving growth by acquiring new customers and developing strategic partnerships in vertical markets such as transportation, public safety, and energy, through sales, market research, and relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and acquire new customers to meet growth objectives
Develop and execute strategies for partner engagement and account growth
Research target markets, pursue leads, and collaborate with internal teams to attract clients
Maintain and grow relationships with current clients and prospects
Promote and articulate the company's products, solutions, and services to stakeholders
Understand industry trends, competition, and positioning within vertical markets
Cultivate cross-departmental relationships to create value for external stakeholders
Represent the company with transparency, integrity, and leadership in all engagements
Continuously improve job knowledge through industry participation and professional development
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or technical certification in industry area (a plus).
Minimum of 5 years experience in a sales and or business development role, with a proven record of accomplishment of winning new business.
Strong proficiency in CRM systems and MS Office back office applications.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to transfer knowledge accurately and succinctly across internal and external audiences.
Creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to set and meet deadlines and company objectives.
Strong ability to triage priorities with a high level of attention to execution.
Strong understanding of Ethernet networking technologies and related vertical markets.
Ability to travel a minimum of 50% through defined geography and business areas, including up to 8 hours via airplane and overnight travel.
Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel via automobile for up to six hours at a time.
Must be able to sit for 4 hours at a time and stand for extended periods.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Must be able to travel overnight.
Must comply with company attendance and dress code policies and guidelines, and maintain regular and on-time attendance.
