Job Description
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving growth by acquiring new customers and developing strategic partnerships in key vertical markets such as transportation, public safety, and energy, through sales, market research, and relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and acquire new customers to meet growth objectives
- Develop and execute strategies for partner engagement and account growth
- Research target markets and pursue leads collaboratively with internal teams
- Maintain and build relationships with current clients and prospects
- Promote and articulate the company's products, services, and value proposition
- Understand industry trends, competitors, and vertical market dynamics
- Cultivate cross-departmental relationships to create value for stakeholders
- Represent the company with integrity, transparency, and leadership in all engagements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or technical certification in industry area (a plus).
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a sales and/or business development role, with a proven record of accomplishment of winning new business.
- Strong understanding of Ethernet networking technologies and related vertical markets.
- Proficiency in CRM systems and MS Office back office applications.
- Ability to travel a minimum of 50% through the defined geography and business areas, including up to 8 hours via airplane and overnight travel.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel via automobile for up to six hours at a time.
- Must be able to sit for 4 hours at a time and stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to transfer knowledge accurately and succinctly across internal and external audiences.
- Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, ability to set and meet deadlines and company objectives, and triage priorities with a high level of attention to execution.
- Ability to develop, evaluate, and refine vertical market partner relationships and understand target markets including industry, company, project, and contacts.
- Experience in researching prospective accounts, pursuing leads, and following through individually and collaboratively with sales, marketing, product team, and senior management.
- Ability to cultivate relationships with current clients and identify new prospects within assigned areas.
- Ability to articulate the company’s mission and vision to internal and external stakeholders to create revenue streams in targeted vertical markets.
- Ability to promote the company’s products and services addressing or predicting clients’ objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to act as a self-starter, adopt leadership traits, and exhibit a high degree of integrity and transparency in executing company mission.
- Must comply with company attendance and dress code policies and guidelines, maintaining regular and on-time attendance.
