Job Description
The Actuarial Analyst role involves analyzing insurance data, performing profitability and trend analyses, and supporting reporting and process improvements within a dynamic MGA environment. It requires applying actuarial principles, working with cross-disciplinary teams, and contributing to decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze data using actuarial methods to support decision-making for program managers and underwriters
- Perform monthly and quarterly reporting, including program profitability analyses and rate retention reports
- Develop and maintain rating templates and renewal rate change targets
- Verify the validity of data sources and reconcile data discrepancies
- Assist in gathering market intelligence and building dashboards in collaboration with data operations
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses based on requests from program managers
- Participate in process improvements to streamline actuarial tasks and enhance products
Requirements
- Exposure to actuarial knowledge including at least 1 to 3 CAS or SOA exams and relevant college coursework or internships.
- Bachelor's degree (BS or BA) is preferred.
- 1 to 3 years of relevant actuarial exposure knowledge, including internships and college coursework.
- Knowledgeable in actuarial fundamentals, principles, and practices including loss development techniques, on-leveling, trend analysis, and excess factors.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills required.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence decision making and actions as needed.
- Ability to perform program profitability analyses on a quarterly and bi-annual basis.
- Ability to maintain monthly rate retention reporting and quarterly Actual versus Expected reports.
- Ability to produce quarterly renewal rate change targets for various programs.
- Ability to assist in gathering market intelligence via SERFF public access.
- Ability to partner with data operations team in building and improving dashboards.
- Ability to perform ad-hoc analyses based on program manager requests.
- Limited travel expected, which is required.
- Successful with time management, the ability to multitask, and work independently.
