Job Description
The Energy Economist Power Market Analysis Manager will lead research and analysis of the Japanese power market with a focus on renewable energy economics, managing long-term wholesale power price forecasts and asset revenue assessments. This role involves collaboration with industry bodies, providing market insights, and supporting project development and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead research and analysis of the Japanese power market focused on renewable energy economics.
- Develop and manage long-term wholesale power price and asset revenue outlooks for the Japanese electricity market.
- Create and update market insight and forecasting reports, including supply and demand fundamentals and policy support mechanisms.
- Collaborate with advisors and internal stakeholders to develop power price scenarios for project evaluations.
- Manage support for project development, M&A, and subsidy auctions in Japan, providing reports and presentations.
- Lead external industry relationships and engage with regulatory bodies to influence market evolution.
- Build strong relationships across internal teams within the SSE Group.
Requirements
- A degree in a subject like math, economics, or engineering.
- Extensive experience in wholesale energy market analysis and economic and commercial modeling.
- Deep understanding of power market economics and policy mechanisms.
- Ability to build good relationships with external stakeholders and represent SSE in the industry.
- Fluent in Japanese and English.
