Job Description

The Senior Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing materials and services for energy storage programs, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality while building strong supplier relationships. This role requires strategic thinking and excellent negotiation skills in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiating contracts and terms.
  • Manage procurement activities for materials, equipment, and services.
  • Ensure purchasing aligns with company policies and ethical standards.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers for reliability.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address delivery or quality issues.
  • Conduct supplier evaluations and audits for compliance.
  • Analyze market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Develop strategies to manage material costs while ensuring quality.
  • Track and report on cost variances and budget performance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on demand forecasts and production schedules.
  • Monitor inventory levels and adjust purchase orders as needed.
  • Coordinate with logistics teams for receipt and storage of materials.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers.
  • Resolve disputes and contract-related issues promptly.
  • Continuously assess and improve procurement processes.
  • Leverage technology to optimize procurement workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with legal regulations and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases and supplier information.
  • Prepare reports on procurement activities and supplier performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years Purchasing and Supply Chain, or related experience.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Ensure all purchasing aligns with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
  • Monitor supplier performance, addressing issues such as delivery delays, quality concerns, or pricing discrepancies.
  • Conduct regular supplier evaluations and audits to ensure compliance with company requirements.
  • Track and report on cost variances and budget performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier information.

Compensation/salary range
Full-time 40 hours, generally Monday through Friday 8am-5pm EST
