Job Description
The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, equipment, and services for the organization, negotiating contracts, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining strong supplier relationships to support operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and purchase materials, equipment, and services.
- Negotiate contracts and ensure timely delivery of goods.
- Evaluate vendor quotations and negotiate for best value.
- Assess potential suppliers in collaboration with Engineering and Supplier Quality.
- Build and manage strong supplier relationships and performance.
- Manage supplier development and tooling timelines.
- Identify and deliver cost reductions to meet program targets.
- Review purchase order claims and contracts for compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business or a related field.
- 5-7 years of Purchasing and Supply Chain, or related experience.
- Experience purchasing electrical and mechanical components for battery energy storage systems and/or automotive battery packs.
- Proficient technical understanding of product design and manufacturing processes.
- Solid knowledge of product cost drivers and cost analysis tools.
- Strong leadership, analytical, negotiation, and program management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to travel, as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and knowledge of ERP systems.
- Ability to work at a desk with a laptop and mobility to move between office space, test lab, and manufacturing plant floor.
- Full-time availability for 40 hours, generally scheduled Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm EST.
