Job Description
The Project Manager will oversee the planning, permitting, construction, and commissioning of energy storage projects in NYC, ensuring timely delivery, compliance, and cost control within a collaborative renewable energy company.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of energy storage projects from site design to commissioning
- Source, negotiate, and manage contracts with service firms and contractors
- Ensure project compliance with standards, regulations, and stakeholder requirements
- Manage project schedules to meet key milestones and absorb delays
- Implement and monitor project cost controls to prevent overruns
- Coordinate with team members and third-party partners on permitting, design, procurement, and construction
- Visit project sites and engage with stakeholders as needed
- Maintain project dashboards and lead project reviews to track progress and address challenges
Requirements
- College degree in project management or logistics
- 5 years of experience managing multiple construction projects in parallel
- Expert practitioner of Procore, Microsoft Project and Smartsheet
- Comfortability and fluency in understanding engineering drawings
- Excellent problem solver with an affinity for difficult problems and following through to solve them
- Strong ability to anticipate challenges and address them pro-actively and with agility
- Extremely organized and process oriented
- Keen attention to detail
- Ability to process pay applications and invoices in a timely manner
- Ability to manage and enforce contracts executed in support of projects and negotiate change orders when required
- Ability to set up and manage cost controls to keep track of project costs and avoid project overruns
- Ability to proactively manage project schedules to protect key milestone dates and absorb delays without extra costs
- Experience in sourcing new service firms and contractors, benchmarking existing contenders, and negotiating scope work, costs, and contractual terms
- Experience in managing project permits, design, procurement, and construction in New York City
- Willingness to visit project sites and meet with stakeholders as needed
- Ability to maintain executive dashboards and lead project reviews on a monthly basis
- This role is based in NYC with no flexibility for remote work, requiring daily presence in the Dumbo, Brooklyn office
