Job Description
The PV Electrical Engineer at OneEnergy is responsible for leading the electrical engineering design of utility-scale photovoltaic power plants, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project efficiency and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering portions of commercial and utility scale solar projects.
- Coordinate internal resources to generate construction sets 30-IFC for multiple projects.
- Verify design incorporation with Sr. PV Electrical Engineer and manage change orders.
- Ensure interconnection study reviews and utility feedback are implemented in designs.
- Review electrical calculations including short circuit, arc flash, and ampacity.
- Establish consistency in short-circuit studies through outside consultants.
- Manage internal engineering resources to maintain design deadlines.
- Coordinate with engineering team to align project priorities.
- Collaborate with Engineer of Record to review and approve deliverables.
- Implement Real, Apparent, and Reactive Power expectations based on utility requirements.
- Collaborate with Sr. project engineers to optimize preliminary layout design of PV systems.
- Develop specialty knowledge or skill set to complement team capabilities.
Requirements
- Electrical Engineering degree from an accredited program
- 3 years of experience working in a professional engineering, construction, or land development environment
- Complete understanding of 480V, 600V, and 800V PV designs
- Strong familiarity with current NEC, NESC, and IEEE requirements
- Experience managing internal engineering resources
- Strong communication skills enabling them to lead technical conversations with contractors and internal customers
- Proficiency establishing equipment specifications to generate final submittals
- Familiarity of SCADA design standards to complete Performance Test and O&M PV Sites
- Experience reading geotechnical reports and testing performed for electrical studies
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of integrity and proven organizational capacity to manage multiple projects
- Strong AutoCAD drafting skills with experience utilizing layers, blocks, coordinate systems, dimensioning, and industry standards familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D or AutoCAD Map 3D a plus
- Ability to travel and access sites of varying terrain
- Must carry an acceptable driving record and active driver’s license
