Job Description
The Lead Solar Technician is responsible for providing technical leadership, ensuring safety, quality, and operational excellence at solar sites, while managing maintenance, troubleshooting, and team development to support the company's renewable energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage site safety programs, conduct safety inspections, and ensure compliance with safety protocols
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain solar plant systems to ensure safety, quality, and performance standards
- Oversee equipment maintenance, manage spare parts inventory, and support contractors and vendors
- Lead and develop site team through training, mentorship, and fostering a culture of operational excellence
- Implement and improve operational processes and procedures
- Maintain accurate documentation, including work orders, safety records, and emergency protocols
- Perform daily inspections and technical troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical systems
- Maintain site vegetation and perform routine site maintenance activities
- Support on-call and after-hours work as needed
Requirements
- Valid Driver's License
- Minimum of 3 years experience as an Inverter Specialist or Solar Technician
- Knowledgeable of renewable energy peculiarities and expertise in DC array technology
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to perform basic electrical calculations and read and interpret electrical schematics
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow, working independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to perform necessary physical activity, including lifting up to 80 Lbs
- Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Minimum Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour Training for General Industry, NFPA 70E Workplace Electrical Safety, First Aid, CPR, AED
- Position is safety sensitive, requiring compliance with safety protocols and emergency procedures
- Must be willing and able to work nights, weekends, and outside normal hours as required, including maintaining an on-call rotation schedule
