Job Description
The Lead Solar Technician is responsible for providing technical leadership, ensuring safety, quality, and operational excellence in managing solar energy sites, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and team development to support the company's renewable energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee site safety programs, conduct safety inspections, and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain solar plant systems to ensure safety, quality, and optimal performance.
- Lead and develop site team through training, mentorship, and implementing operational procedures.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors, manage maintenance schedules, and oversee inventory and spare parts management.
- Document work activities, maintain accurate records, and support continuous process improvements.
Requirements
- Valid Driver's License
- Inverter Specialist or Solar Technician with 3 years experience
- Knowledgeable of renewable energy peculiarities and expertise in DC array technology
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to perform basic electrical calculations, read and interpret electrical schematics
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow, working independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to perform necessary physical activity, including lifting up to 80 Lbs
- Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Minimum Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour Training for General Industry, NFPA 70E Workplace Electrical Safety, First Aid, CPR, AED
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and outside normal hours as required
- Maintain site vegetation through routine mowing and spraying
- Support and participate in site safety and accident prevention programs, including conducting safety inspections and briefings
- Operate and maintain the plant in compliance with established standards and procedures
- Troubleshoot electrical components using equipment such as digital multi-meters, meggers, amp clamps, and IV curve tracers
- Perform daily mechanical and electrical inspections to ensure equipment operates safely and optimally
- Manage and support contractors and OEM vendors ensuring proper documentation, work order updates, and inventory control
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation including work orders, time entries, and emergency response protocols
- Ensure high-quality control of tools, vehicles, and materials
- Pursue continuing education to meet safety and plant requirements
- Manage site safety and accident prevention programs, including safety inspections and briefings
- Act as the on-site technical safety expert
- Support talent rotation and succession planning as needed
- Support site operations by troubleshooting system problems and resolving issues in a timely manner
- Support the operation and maintenance of solar and energy storage plants in accordance with safety and operational standards

Compensation/salary range: $30-$45 per hour
