Job Description
The Senior Backend Engineer will lead the development of scalable, reliable backend services to support innovative energy products and solutions in Japan, driving the green energy transition through technical leadership, system design, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead backend development for scalable, reliable services powering energy solutions in Japan.
- Make architectural decisions and guide system design for backend platforms.
- Mentor engineers and lead initiatives across different domains.
- Build and maintain backend services that support products like smart tariffs, renewable generation, and energy switching solutions.
- Align backend development with global tech strategy and solve complex technical challenges.
Requirements
- Proven experience in backend development, leading the backend domain and building scalable, reliable services that power energy-related products.
- Experience in making architectural decisions, guiding system design, and mentoring engineers as the team scales.
- Strong proficiency in Python programming language.
- Experience in building and maintaining highly resilient and scalable platforms from the ground up.
- Ability to lead initiatives across multiple domains and solve deep technical challenges.
- Tech decision-making authority and senior technical leadership experience.
- Experience working in a fast-moving environment with a focus on customer obsession and delivering tangible impact.
- Ability to work side by side with cross-functional teams including customer service, sales, marketing, operations, finance, and data teams.
- Experience in developing services that support the energy sector or similar complex industries.
- Ability to participate in and contribute to a global engineering community, supporting and collaborating with international teams.
