Job Description

The Portfolio Associate Director at Octopus Energy Generation is responsible for leading and managing the company's renewable energy development investments, overseeing commercial relationships with development partners, and driving value maximization, exit strategies, and legal decisions across a diverse European portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead commercial, development, and legal decisions for the renewable energy development portfolio.
  • Manage and drive value maximization, exit strategies, and sale processes for investments.
  • Oversee relationships with development partners, joint ventures, and project companies.
  • Lead a team of commercial and development managers responsible for the development portfolio.
  • Support fund managers in decision-making and value creation for portfolio companies.
  • Act as a potential board director for joint ventures and project companies.

Requirements

  • Experience in leading commercial relationships with approximately 6-8 development partners under development agreements, joint ventures, or equity investments in Europe.
  • Ability to lead all commercial, development, and legal decisions on a development portfolio spanning different maturity stages from early stage land to ready to build projects.
  • Proven track record in driving value maximization, exit strategy, and sale processes for renewable energy development projects.
  • Experience in leading and managing a team of commercial and development managers responsible for a development portfolio.
  • Ability to support fund managers in decision making and value creation for portfolio companies.
  • Understanding of renewables development, including onshore wind and solar power projects.
  • Very commercially minded with strong understanding of market dynamics and investment processes in renewable energy.
  • Excellent communication skills to clearly communicate with team members and senior stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work an average of 3 days per week in the office in London.
