Job Description
The internship at Octopus Energy offers an opportunity for candidates, particularly those from Black, Black British, African, or Caribbean backgrounds, to gain experience in the energy industry while supporting the company's mission to promote renewable energy, diversity, and customer-centric innovation. The role focuses on fostering inclusiveness and contributing to the company's efforts to make green energy accessible and affordable for all.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of diversity and inclusion initiatives to address Black representation in the energy industry.
- Assist in promoting the company's mission to drive renewable energy and make green energy affordable.
- Contribute to communication efforts that bridge the gap between customers and the energy supply system.
- Participate in activities that enhance customer service and engagement related to energy innovations and tariffs.
- Support operational tasks that facilitate the delivery of energy services and customer communication.
Requirements
- Candidates must identify with any Black, Black British, African or Caribbean background, as the internship is only open to these candidates.
- Applicants must submit a cover letter of no more than 500 words instead of a CV when applying.
- Applicants should demonstrate a genuine passion for Octopus Energy's mission to drive the global renewable revolution and make green energy affordable for all.
- Applicants must be able to articulate why they are interested in the internship and what they can bring to Octopus Energy.
- Applicants should be able to share a specific example of going above and beyond to help someone else, not because it was required, but because it was the right thing to do.
- Applicants must be able to write a personal story that reflects their passions, personality, and motivations, as the application process emphasizes storytelling over formal experience.
- Applicants should be able to communicate effectively and be willing to share knowledge or teach the company something unrelated to energy if given a stage and 2 minutes.
- Applicants must be able to participate in the interview process and inform the company of any specific accommodations needed for comfort and accessibility.
