Job Description
Leading the embedded software engineering efforts at MOPO, this role involves managing a team of engineers to develop and test firmware for solar battery systems using ESP32 microcontrollers, providing technical leadership, setting architectural direction, and ensuring the delivery of robust solutions to enable reliable renewable energy access across Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead embedded software engineering efforts for MOPO Batteries.
- Manage a team of embedded software engineers designing and testing firmware.
- Develop firmware for ESP32 microcontrollers to manage battery performance, communication, and diagnostics.
- Provide technical leadership and set architectural direction for firmware development.
- Ensure the delivery of robust firmware solutions to enable reliable, renewable energy access.
- Establish best practices and steer the scaling of firmware development across the continent.
Requirements
- Experience in leading embedded software engineering teams, including building and growing the team, establishing best practices, and steering firmware development as the company scales across the continent.
- Proven ability to provide technical leadership and set architectural direction for embedded firmware solutions.
- Experience designing and testing firmware that runs in battery management systems, specifically working with ESP32 microcontrollers to build embedded systems that manage battery performance, communication, and diagnostics.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver robust firmware solutions that enable reliable, renewable energy access for thousands of customers.
- Experience working in or with renewable energy, energy distribution networks, or similar industries involving embedded systems for energy management.
- Ability to work in a Sheffield-based environment (implying physical presence or willingness to relocate to Sheffield).
