Job Description
The role involves testing, maintaining, and improving the hardware systems of autonomous vehicles, including electrical and mechanical components, to ensure reliable vehicle autonomy and support troubleshooting and hardware integration efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with testing teams, component owners, and customers to execute hardware test validation plans
- Maintain and improve the reliability of vehicle autonomy systems, including electrical and mechanical components
- Coordinate tools and resources for debugging and issue resolution related to vehicle components and communication networks
- Prepare reports and documentation to inform hardware design improvements and vehicle integration within software environments
- Support remote operation sites and provide technical guidance for troubleshooting autonomous vehicle systems
Requirements
- Troubleshooting electrical systems or vehicles, preferably with exposure to CAN or automotive Ethernet networks.
- Familiarity with vehicle electrical architecture, controlling mechanisms, and the integration process.
- Ability to interpret wiring harness diagrams, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings in relation to vehicle networks such as CAN and Ethernet and their interaction with other automotive systems.
- 3 years experience in test planning and experimental design, especially designing for safety and repeatability.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant engineering or related field including Mechanical Engineering (ME), Electrical Engineering (EE), Computer Science (CS), Robotics, Controls, Aerospace, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with vehicle protocols or vehicle harness design.
- Proficiency in automation test frameworks.
- Understanding of autonomous driving vehicles, infrastructure, and operations.
- Experience in data analysis and test scripting automation using C, C++, Python, or Matlab Simulink (preferred but not mandatory).
- Understanding of systems engineering principles such as defining requirements and formal verification and validation (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience in hands-on troubleshooting at circuit board and module system levels, including systems integrated within a vehicle network (preferred but not mandatory).
