Job Description

The role involves managing and developing a team of AV operators to ensure smooth operational execution of self-driving vehicle missions, including hiring, training, performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hire, onboard, and develop a team of AV operators
  • Manage operator performance through feedback, coaching, and performance reviews
  • Oversee start and end of shift activities, including attendance and data management
  • Coordinate with planning teams to ensure operators are trained and prepared for new features
  • Respond to operator and onsite incidents according to established procedures
  • Monitor and analyze team performance, identifying and implementing improvement actions
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to drive process improvements and standardization

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience managing teams of at least 10 direct reports, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and mentoring or relevant work experience.
  • Experience leading and managing a team of 20 operators, providing feedback and guidance, ensuring training competency is up to date, and offering coaching and mentoring.
  • Ability to conduct performance reviews of operators in line with performance evaluation metrics and work with stakeholders to update these metrics as needed.
  • Experience running the interview process and executing onboarding for new hires in accordance with the company's onboarding plan, including working with the Learning and Development team to develop interview and onboarding processes and grading rubrics.
  • Understanding of US Labor laws, Employment laws, and Driving laws.
  • Ability to manage Start of Shift and End of Shift activities, including capturing operator attendance, supporting software burns and data importing, and preparing operators' keys and disks.
  • Ability to work closely with the planning team to understand weekly goals, allocation strategies, and ensure operators are trained and ready for new feature rollouts.
  • Responsibility for responding to operator and onsite incidents as per established procedures.
  • Ability to review weekly plan vs actual performance, identify deviations, and implement action items to resolve issues.
  • Experience managing continuous improvement processes and projects to enhance efficiency and throughput, including sharing best practices and driving standardization across locations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and taking initiative to resolve issues independently.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to review data effectively.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes nights, evenings, and weekends.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and assist where needed.
  • A friendly, positive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Interest in robotics, AI, and supporting the development of AI and robotics endeavors.
