Job Description
The role involves managing and leading a team of autonomous vehicle operators, overseeing their onboarding, performance, and daily operations to ensure successful execution of Nuro's self-driving technology missions.
Key Responsibilities
- Hire, onboard, and develop a team of AV operators
- Manage operator performance through feedback, coaching, and performance reviews
- Oversee start and end of shift activities, including attendance and data management
- Coordinate with planning teams to ensure operators are trained and prepared for new features
- Respond to operator and onsite incidents following established procedures
- Monitor and analyze team performance, identifying areas for improvement
- Collaborate cross-functionally to implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Share best practices and drive standardization across locations
Requirements
- At least 2 years experience managing teams of at least 10 direct reports, including hiring, performance managing, coaching, and mentoring or relevant work experience.
- Ability to lead and manage a team of 20 operators, providing feedback, guidance, and coaching to ensure training competency is up to date.
- Experience conducting performance reviews of team members in line with performance evaluation metrics and working with stakeholders to update these metrics as needed.
- Experience running the interview process and executing onboarding for new hires in accordance with the established plan, including working with the Learning and Development team to develop interview and onboarding processes and grading rubrics.
- Understanding of US Labor laws, Employment laws, and Driving laws.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes nights, evenings, and weekends to meet business needs.
- Experience managing Start of Shift and End of Shift activities, including capturing operator attendance, supporting software burns and data importing, and preparing operators' keys and disks.
- Ability to work closely with planning teams to understand weekly goals, operator training needs, and allocation strategies, and to provide visibility on operator availability periodically.
- Responsibility for responding to operator and onsite incidents as per established procedures.
- Ability to review plan versus actual team performance weekly, identify deviations, and implement action items to resolve issues.
- Experience managing continuous improvement processes and projects to enhance efficiency and throughput, including sharing best practices and driving standardization across locations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and initiative to resolve issues independently.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to review data effectively.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and assist where needed.
- A friendly, positive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow.
- Excitement about robots and supporting AI and robotics development efforts.
