Job Description
A Senior Staff Software Engineer in Fault Response Verification at Nuro will work on defining, developing, and validating fault response systems for autonomous vehicles, ensuring system safety and reliability through system-level analysis, testing, and tooling development to support autonomous driving deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Define system-level behavior requirements for fault response in autonomous systems
- Develop metrics and validation tools to assess fault response and system safety
- Build and implement validation pipelines and tooling for fault injection and testing
- Analyze system architecture to understand failure modes and interdependencies
- Support development of automated evaluation tools for test logs and contingency requirements
- Collaborate with engineering teams to extract performance indicators and ensure system readiness
Requirements
- 5 years of technical work experience in a relevant area with 3 years of experience with software development
- Hands-on software experience, with the ability to code proficiently in Python or C++
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Physics, or a related field
- Strong understanding of robotic systems architecture, including how sensing, localization, perception, prediction, behavior, and control modules interact
- Familiarity with simulation and real-world testing of autonomous systems
- Highly collaborative in nature, with strong abilities to think and communicate analytically and effectively
