Job Description
A Senior Research Engineer responsible for modeling and assessing collision risks in autonomous vehicle systems, developing tools and methods to evaluate and mitigate collision scenarios through simulation and real-world data analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain methods and software to evaluate collision risk in conflict scenarios using logs and simulation.
- Develop labeling processes and simulation software to extract parameters from conflict scenarios.
- Assess and quantify collision risk, model crash dynamics and agent behavior, and evaluate collision severity.
- Analyze and test collision-related risks resulting from functional insufficiencies and manage safety risks.
- Communicate risk assessments and strategic recommendations to cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- 5 years of technical work experience in a relevant area, of which 3 years should be in robotics software research and development offboard or onboard
- Experience with both simulation and on-road testing of autonomous vehicles using well-defined metrics to score good driving behavior
- Strong algorithmic problem solving skills
- Proficiency in Python programming
- Highly collaborative with strong abilities to think and communicate analytically and effectively, both verbal and written
- Self-starter and fast learner, passionate about picking up new skills and approaching unstructured problems from first principles
- Ability to prioritize and manage workload to meet critical project deadlines
