Job Description
A Robotics and Reliability Engineer responsible for diagnosing, resolving, and preventing technical issues in autonomous vehicle systems, while leading projects to improve system reliability, automation, and data analysis within Nuro's self-driving technology fleet.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve on-site technical issues with autonomous vehicle systems
- Support vehicle fleet operations during testing and customer missions to ensure proper hardware and software functioning
- Analyze software issues to identify contributing factors and develop corrective actions
- Develop monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems for fleet reliability and security
- Lead technical projects to improve diagnostics, troubleshooting, and system resilience
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify risks and implement solutions
- Mentor team members and share knowledge to enhance problem-solving capabilities
Requirements
- Participate in on-call support rotation to diagnose and mitigate software issues with Nuro s vehicle fleet.
- Support operations team during autonomous vehicle testing and customer-facing missions to ensure software and hardware are operating properly.
- Analyze software issues for contributing factors, themes, and corrective actions, and document results to share learnings across Nuro s organization.
- Develop monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems and workflows for Nuro s secure and reliable fleet operations with timely insights, using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, GCP, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
- Propose, design, review, execute, and lead technical projects for the Robotics Reliability Engineering team.
- Build tools and automation to advance capabilities for streamlined diagnosis and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with other technical teams including Hardware, Performance, Connectivity, Security, Embedded Software, and others to identify cross-team risks and solutions.
- Demonstrate keen systematic analysis and problem-solving skills, with a passion for understanding and debugging complex systems.
- Have strong ability to reverse engineer unexpected behaviors to source code triggers.
- Possess coding proficiency in C, C++, Python, Golang, and/or Bash.
- Have strong communication and collaboration skills, able to identify problems and take initiative to fix them.
- Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related technical fields.
- Have experience building tools for automating and troubleshooting Linux systems.
- Have experience participating in an on-call support rotation.
- Have experience monitoring and securing server infrastructure at scale.
