Job Description
A Solar Project Developer responsible for originating, developing, and managing distributed solar and energy storage projects, overseeing activities from site origination to project readiness, stakeholder engagement, and permitting within the Mid-Atlantic region.
Key Responsibilities
- Originate and develop distributed solar and energy storage projects, managing site origination, permitting, interconnection, tax negotiation, revenue contracting, and title review.
- Develop sales presentations, proposals, and supporting materials for project development.
- Negotiate complex contracts with private, commercial, and municipal entities.
- Manage relationships with property owners, energy users, and project stakeholders.
- Coordinate with project stakeholders and community members to facilitate permitting and project support.
- Foster support from government agencies, community groups, and project abutters.
- Manage external consultants during permitting activities.
- Maintain project development schedule and budget for timely and cost-effective project delivery.
- Support finance, engineering, and construction teams to ensure successful project financing and construction.
Requirements
- Five years of solar and storage or comparable industry experience in a business development role, with a successful track record in project land development and stakeholder management.
- Proven experience bringing projects from site origination through the various stages of project development to shovel-ready status.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Ability to originate and develop distributed solar and energy storage projects, managing site origination, permitting, interconnection, tax negotiation, revenue contracting, and title review.
- Experience in negotiating complex contracts with private, commercial, and municipal counterparties.
- Experience managing long-term relationships with property owners, energy users, and other project stakeholders.
- Effective communication skills to facilitate project permitting and other initiatives with project stakeholders and community members.
- Ability to foster support from state, county, and local governments, community groups, and project abutters.
- Experience managing external consultants in conjunction with project permitting activities.
- Ability to maintain development schedule and budget to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
- Experience supporting internal finance, engineering, and construction teams to facilitate successful project financing and construction.
- Willingness to travel up to 60%, including some evening and weekend work.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives within and outside the organization.
- Experience showcasing initiative to improve current work, processes, products, and services across the organization.
- Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify root causes of problems, and present creative solutions.
- Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty.
- Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of how Nexamp operates and apply that knowledge to inform business decisions.
