Job Description
The Senior Construction Superintendent at Nexamp leads and supervises solar construction projects, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance while managing site teams, subcontractors, and project progress to support the company's mission of advancing clean energy.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate site teams and subcontractors across solar construction projects.
- Assign leadership roles, monitor performance, and provide coaching to site superintendents.
- Ensure safety, quality, and compliance standards are met; respond to issues by stopping work or redirecting resources.
- Evaluate subcontractor performance and make recommendations regarding contracts.
- Enforce company policies, OSHA standards, and site-specific regulations in the field.
- Lead onboarding and ongoing training for site personnel.
- Monitor project progress, assess risks, and recommend staffing or scope adjustments.
- Oversee documentation, QA/QC reports, and inspection logs for compliance and project closeout.
- Serve as subject matter expert on solar construction methods, site logistics, and compliance.
- Advise leadership on operational performance, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of construction management experience, preferably in the solar industry, with a successful track record in project management
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Project, and various other construction management tools
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards, with OSHA 10 as a minimum requirement
- Maintains professional licenses in trade (e.g., CSL, NABCEP PV, etc.)
- Willingness to travel
- Valid and current Driver's License
- Ability to effectively communicate information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond the organization
- Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization
- Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify root causes of problems, and present creative solutions
- Experience in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty
- Understanding of medium voltage systems and equipment (preferred but not mandatory)
- Procore experience (preferred but not mandatory)
- Physical ability to supervise and manage construction sites in the field
- Willingness to be field-based and support projects in Southern Illinois, including being in the region supported
