Job Description
The Operations Center Dispatcher at Nexamp is responsible for the real-time remote monitoring and operation of solar photovoltaic and energy storage assets, ensuring safe and efficient operations while mentoring a team of operators. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with various stakeholders, and participating in a rotating shift schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate Nexamp PV, Storage, and future Microgrid and Utility Scale generation assets.
- Ensure safe and effective remote operation of Nexamp's managed portfolio.
- Identify and react to abnormal operations using critical thinking.
- Supervise and train a team of Distributed Generation Operators.
- Develop and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Utility Scale Assets.
- Optimize operations to maximize revenues while meeting safety and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with regional transmission operators and maintenance personnel.
- Record data, log information, and compile reports as required.
- Conduct remote troubleshooting to diagnose and solve common issues.
- Maintain continuous coverage and responsibility while on-duty.
- Complete required internal and external training and certifications.
- Collaborate across business unit teams to inform future operations.
Requirements
- A 2-year degree in Electrical Technology Engineering or the ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge through related coursework and/or experience is required.
- 2 years of relevant work experience in a generation control room is required.
- Advanced computer skills including experience in SCADA system operations and MS Office Suite are required.
- Basic knowledge of the Bulk Electric System including AC electrical generation and high voltage transmission processes is required.
- Availability to work rotating shift work, 365 days a year, including weekends and holidays is required.
- Availability to fill scheduled and unscheduled job vacancies is required.
- Willingness and ability to develop and complete an extensive in-house training program as well as NERC or ISO equivalent certification programs in order to pass a certification exam and/or meet industry requirements and subsequently maintain these qualifications is required.
- Willingness to travel to remote sites for work or training activities including overnight trips, if required.
- Analytical abilities to collect, evaluate numerical data and complete both internal and external reporting are required.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization is required.
