Job Description
The Category Manager at Nexamp is responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies for the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) category, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring supply chain resilience to support the company's clean energy projects and mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement category strategies for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) aligned with business goals
- Identify sourcing opportunities, cost-saving initiatives, and optimize supplier performance
- Generate reports on category performance, market insights, and procurement forecasts to inform management decisions
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, develop contingency plans
- Conduct market research on supplier capabilities, market trends, and risks
- Identify and introduce new suppliers, rationalize the supply base, and manage supplier onboarding and negotiations
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure technical, manufacturing, quality, and logistics needs are met
- Continuously monitor and manage supplier performance through scorecards and reviews
Requirements
- University degree in a relevant field; Supply Chain or Engineering degrees are a plus; MBA is a plus.
- At least 3 years of experience in the solar industry with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) experience familiarity.
- At least 5 years of experience in supplier management, category management, technical program management, or consulting.
- Proven ability to develop procurement and supply chain strategies, coupled with strong presentation skills to effectively communicate recommendations to senior management.
- Experience working closely with engineers and other technical teams, with a deep understanding of technical requirements and product development cycles.
- Proficient in ERP systems such as SAP and Oracle, and experienced in managing projects that align with strategic procurement goals.
- Experience in developing and managing KPIs and performance metrics working with complicated data sets.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond the organization.
- Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization.
- Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify root causes of problems, and present creative solutions.
- Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry.
