Key Responsibilities
The Project Manager, IPP (“PM”) is responsible for the day-to-day execution of projects during construction and commissioning. This role manages contractors, schedules, budgets, and site activities to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with approved plans. The PM operates within established cost, schedule, and technical frameworks and escalates risks, changes, and issues in accordance with the IPP’s organizational and governance structures.
Project Execution
Lead day-to-day execution of assigned projects to commercial operation.
Serve as the IPP’s primary point of contact for EPC contractors, major suppliers, and third-party inspectors during construction, escalating commercial disputes or high-impact technical issues
Support commissioning, performance testing, and punch-list resolution.
Prepare and organize COD documentation and turnover materials.
Review EPC Contractor and vendor compliance with PWA, insurance, and other contract requirements
Identify and document contractor performance issues or contract deviations, escalating to senior leadership for formal notice preparation and resolution
Assist in organizing commissioning schedules, tracking punch-list items to completion, and compiling turnover documentation for the Asset Management team.
Schedule, Cost, and Reporting
Maintain and update detailed project schedules and construction plans.
Track weekly project expenditures against approved budget, update progress tracking models, and review contractor invoices against progress tracking models.
Prepare accurate, timely project reports for senior leadership, lenders, and internal stakeholders.
Identify schedule and cost risks early and escalate with clear documentation and recommendations.
Change Management
Identify potential changes in scope, cost, or schedule and initiate change orders.
Coordinate technical evaluation with the Director of Engineering and commercial review with senior leadership.
Log potential change orders, collect backup documentation (cost estimates, schedule impacts) from contracts, and support senior management in reviewing change order packages.
Implement approved changes and track execution impacts.
Quality, Safety and Compliance
Conduct routine site visits, safety observations, and progress verification.
Coordinate factory acceptance testing logistics, schedules, and documentation with vendors, EPCs, and Engineering.
Escalate safety incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
Support incident investigations and corrective action implementation in coordination with senior leadership and contractors.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
At least three years of renewable energy construction or project management experience (IPP or EPC).
Strong understanding of construction sequencing, contractor management, and site safety.
Experience supporting change management and contract administration.
Excellent communication, organization, and escalation judgment.
