Job Description

The Project Finance Valuation Analyst supports renewable energy project development by creating financial models to evaluate project profitability, market impacts, and valuation drivers, collaborating across teams to optimize project economics and inform strategic decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and analyze financial models to evaluate project valuations, profitability, and market viability.
  • Research and interpret wholesale energy prices, retail rates, and renewable energy credit markets to inform valuation scenarios.
  • Analyze financial models and customer feedback to understand valuation drivers and communicate insights to teams and leadership.
  • Coordinate with policy teams to incorporate community solar program developments into financial models.
  • Leverage project cash flow and market insights to support strategic project development decisions.
  • Drive the development and adoption of new tools and techniques to improve project development efficiency.
  • Engage with customers to educate on revenue and cost structures, review valuation assumptions, and negotiate purchase prices.
  • Collaborate with design engineering to optimize project design for maximum economic benefit.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field
  • 3 to 5 years experience with the United States energy industry, ideally working in the renewable energy industry; candidates with more experience may be considered for a Senior Project Finance Valuation Analyst role
  • Project finance modeling and power markets analysis experience
  • Mastery of Microsoft Excel required
  • VBA experience preferred
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced business environment
  • Knowledge of energy or renewable energy development and finance
  • Accurate and detail-oriented
  • Proactive and able to work independently
  • Ability to analyze financial models and understand the impact of various key drivers
  • Technology-oriented
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills
