Job Description

The M A Director at New Leaf Energy is responsible for leading the marketing, negotiation, and sale of renewable energy projects, leveraging expertise in project development, finance, and market dynamics to optimize project value and drive strategic transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional teams to market and sell renewable energy projects according to forecasted milestones
  • Negotiate membership interest purchase agreements (MIPAs) for project sales to third-party owners
  • Manage competitive marketing processes and develop marketing materials
  • Collaborate with sales and regional teams to design and implement project portfolio marketing strategies
  • Assist in structuring transactions based on regulatory guidelines, risk management, and investor needs
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across legal, finance, engineering, real estate, and policy departments
  • Perform due diligence on projects and resolve issues with internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage data room building and external diligence processes with third-party consultants and counsel
  • Direct staff within the M&A department and other departments to ensure project and transaction success
  • Proactively improve company policies and procedures related to project marketing and sales

Requirements

  • Six (6) years of experience working in the renewable energy industry with a focus on project development, mergers and acquisitions, or finance experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of tax and key real estate processes.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and project management skills.
  • Solid understanding of project financial structures, terminology, tax implications, and investor decision-making processes.
  • Expert knowledge with respect to the key deal points in mergers and acquisitions transactions, specifically in Membership Interest Purchase Agreements (MIPAs).
  • Experience negotiating purchase and sale agreements for renewable energy projects.
  • Familiarity with development activities such as interconnection, permitting, and real estate.
  • Strong knowledge of electricity system market structure, rules and regulations, and economics, with some proficiency in the engineering and physics of the system.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, or a related field; an MBA is preferred.
  • Ability to independently handle competing deadlines and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional communication, organization, and time management skills.
